Default Good wet weather A/T tyres for JK

I'm looking for new A/T tyres for my 2010 JK 2-door and am particularly interested in good wet weather performance. The Goodyear Wranglers that came with the vehicle were so scary on wet roads that I replaced them with road tyres (Kumho Road Venture APT), but now I want to go back to A/Ts. My top three contenders at the moment are Dick Cepek Trail Country, Bridgestone Dueler 697 and BF Goodrich A/Ts.

I would appreciate any advice from those who have had a good experience in the wet with their tyres.

I have the Dueler 697's - replaced the original road tyres with them. Obviously A/T's are a slight step back in the wet from road tyres, but I've had them on for 2 yrs/40,000km and find the Duelers very good. Obviously in the wet you back off your driving style a little, but I don't spend every moment worrying about the tyres letting go (which I've experienced with a particular set of tyres in the past). The only times they have let go in the wet I'd have to say I was really asking for it.

Generally speaking they've been great all round tyres... ride and handling isn't bad, good in sand and tough in outback dirt/gravel conditions. I haven't had them in heavy mud yet though so can't report on that.

Next time round I'll be going up a little in size, but I'll either go for the Duelers again or the BFG K02's.

I am looking, too. So far the prices of tyres r off putting. Am thinking of the G/yr Wrangler AT Adventurer $387 a tyre!! Have been running G/Y MT Kevlar which have been good in dirt/rough country but poor mileage (30000 tops) and r a whopping $489 per tyre. Mickey Thompson about $420 a tyre.

The original tyres I still use for road (only because I had a couple of sets of them). They have given good mileage (>80000) but despite the tread r a road tyre. Not good in the wet and also seem to go out of balance very quickly. I think this has been a significant factor in inducing DW for me. I know there r many other reasons but when everything is as it should be the tyres seem to be the problem. Even the slightest out of balance will induce DW, in my experience.

Have thought of Maxxis but don't hear good reports of them (about $285).BFG KO2 re about $375 but I am told that the newest ones r not as good as the previous ones (whatever that means) but there r plenty of them in outback tyre shops for when one is cactus. Tyre dealers generally r telling me not to buy Dunlop.

I was looking at Maxxis Bighorns and went to my local tyre shop whom I know well to buy a set.

They told me that they don't deal with them anymore and will never sell them again. He didn't explain why but the look of disgust on his face whenever he mentioned them told me to buy something else

Ended up buying Comforser 3000s online and absolutely love them.

I'm pretty happy with my Cooper ST MAXX tyres, so much so that I will be fitting them again if I can ever wear these out.
The main reason I went for them originally was because they were rated 50/50 road use.
Bit expensive the.

The place I got my Bighorns from said the same, but added that it was due to them becoming impossible to balance after a while & going out of round.
