Default 33" tyres for 9x17 wheels - HELP!

Hi guys, I'm wondering if any can shed any light on to this for me...

I've bought some 9x17" dynamic round hole steelies to go on my Unlimited and I'm wanting 33 x 12 or 33 x 12.5 tyres, preferably BFG A/T's.

My problem is, all the tyre places keep telling me they can only supply tyres that equate to 32.5 x 12 - the tyre size being 305/65 R17

Has anyone got a proven tyre size to use to obtain the 33" diameter with 12(+) width?

Thanks

Try other brands.
I run Cooper ST MAXX tyres and am very happy with them, both performance and wear wise. Over 60K on them so far and only about half worn.
For this reason, they are not such an expensive tyre in the long run.
In that range they give you about 3 options.
Mine are 285/70R17s which give me 32.99 (close enough).

The size you are after is 295/70/17. It is just over 33".

Yeah I have 285/70 R17 Cooper Discoverer's on at the moment but they came with the vehicle and I have no idea how long they've been on. I'm not disappointed with them at all, they're just not wide enough for the new wheels

They're not wide enough really, I need them to go over 305mm

295s recommended rims sizes are 7.5-10". 295mm is 11.6", close enough to 12.
Next tyre size up is a 305/70/17 (34") or 315/70/17 (34.4-34.6").

I don't think it really matters. The difference between 32.5 and 33 is half an inch total but once you have to half it again to account for the rim so your only talking 6mm height difference from your axles to the ground. I think you'll get more variation between different brands and tread patterns in the same size. Even comparing new tyres to bald tyres in the same size is more than that

Very true, thanks for your inputs guys.

I am swerving towards the BFG's still as amongst our group of mates there's been some fantastic feedback with them.

I'm currently not in the financial situation to get them on there but when I do I'll upload some pics and info

Thanks again
