I think you should be lucky and embrace a free upgrade. I've not yet come across a good satnav package in a new car that is worth paying for when you look at the hassle and cost of updates and particularly map upgrades. I don't know if there is an expectation that updates would be free if the nav unit was a standard feature of the spec level but it's not something I would ever take for granted before purchasing. The manufacturers seem to be getting better but long way to go as a whole.

I got a sweater for Chrissy, nothing wrong with that except I was hoping for a moaner or a screamer.
Nice try Jeep... but that aint gonna fly! (Satnav update)
For me I have never felt the updates should be free I have just been frustrated at the complete and barefaced lies at the updates ever being available. I have always been willing to pay for them but they have never been available in the 3 years since we got the unit and the maps are actually so far out of date from the beginning that it is patently useless as a sat nav

If it is a Jeep thing, do I really want to understand it ????
A/ The GPS is a joke and has been from the moment I picked up the car.
B/ I'm not paying for something, even in a round about way, that has been defective from new.
C/ I service my own vehicle.
I have a referred this to Jeep customer relations for almost 12 months now, while I'm glad it looks to be sorted, i will not be paying for it.
Trailhawk - it's free so no you won't be paying for it.
I've had problems with mine also but all seemed to be fixed at the last service.
Yeah cheers, I have it booked at the local dealer but they are not convinced its going to be a free upgrade. So, I am in the middle of contacting customer service at Jeep for a resolution.
