Thanks for your comments, this vehicle does less than 10 000 km's per year and the pads are almost still brand new when the rotors start to pulsate slightly at first and then they go quickly thereafter. It goes without saying that I replace rotors and pads at the same time. There are other heavy suv's that don't have this issue this often and I was hoping that if this is a "Jeep Grand Cherokee thing" that someone would have found a solution.I would be happy to make the spend as it is a brilliant vehicle in all other respects.

The first round of rotors and pads were DBA slotted and Bendix 4x4 pads.
+/-10 000km's later I replaced these with standard pads and rotors because the DBA's warped, can't remember what I replaced them with but they were standard average issue rotors and pads.

I use Protex rotors and pads. The pads are nearly worn out and I have no vibes to date. I tow heaps so the brakes are often loaded up. Might be worth giving Protex rotors and pads ago. Get heavy duty pads as they are designed for heat. Also did you grease the caliper slides with synthetic grease as that may cause problems if not.
Keep in mind though I have only managed about 25k out of my Protex heavy duty pads, which I kinda hoped for about 40k.

Being an 04 you should have Akebono calipers not the early teves ones. The teves calipers can be prone to rotor warping due to uneven pad pressure. That said my 00 WJ has 205K on the clock with teves calipers, DBA slotted rotors & bendix 4x4 pads & Ive had absolutely no touble at all.
Maybe you have a siezed or at least sticky caliper, definately not normal to have the problems your experiencing unless your exceptionally hard on brakes, towing heavy loads down hills etc.
