Get a full pigskin one, never been burnt with one in 5 years...I use to use lace up steel caps till my toes got burnt a few to many times with the welding splatter finding its way down to my toes. I use slip on boots now

I have decided I'm going with the full beacon. Just need a little extra homework for the extra $$.
Round the shop I usually find soft hiking/climbing shoes (leather slip-on (hmm that sounds wrong)) best, but on the days I know I'll be doing a bit of welding the slip-on steel caps all the way. I've got a lot of holes in my joggers to testament that that's not a good idea .

I'm a welder by trade and you can't go past the full pig skin type ones. I personally use one of the synthetic type ones most of the time but i hardly have to weld now days, normally I'm just helping someone else out so it's limited use.

I personally don't like slip on boots but i'm careful to make sure my pants always cover the tops of my boots.

Amen! Got a nice scar on the top of my ankle from that one too.

Leather apron for me, but I dont do much welding and try to be above it as much as I can. Oh, and jeans over boots!!!
