Does it try to fire at all, or does it just crank and nothing?

What happens if you squirt some brake clean or start ya bastard down it's gullet?

Have you/the mechanic tried purging the air out of the high pressure injector lines?

Jason

I think Straubz said it would fire if it got a dose of" start ya Bastard", but not with out it. Makes me wonder what a injector leak down test might show up,,,maybe got at lest one bad injector.
Did the mechanic find any problems, or any thing it might be???

I had an issue with mine when one of the injectors shit itself where it would start then stop as soon as fuel pressure/volume would come up. I worked out the return volume of fuel from the injectors would tell the fuel pressure reg bad things are happening which would make the ecm cut fuel.

I discovered that when you did a fuel leak-back test the engine would start and run quite well because the fuel pressure reg was happy.

It's likely it's been disturbed or a return line has been disturbed and is creating problems.

when cranking normally it does not fire
when using stating fluid it will fire and run for a second and if it goes over 1200 rpm it throws a crank sensor code
have done a leakback test and no issues, injectors are less than 1 year old i believe
Mechanic has not found anything.

is it possible it could have the wrong flex plate installed? believe there were some variations to it, its the only thing that has changed.

I have never changed the flex plate, but it is conceivable that is the issue. I think the sensor works off it. (Emphasis on the "think" because I am not sure.)

EDIT:
I just checked the factory manual. The crank sensor does run on the flex plate

A few things to check:
  1. The flex plate should have 2 missing sensor teeth that signals cylinder 1 TDC to the ECU.
  2. There is a locating pin between the flex plate and the crank flange. That is, the flex plate should only be installed in one orientation relative to the crank. Did the mechanic get this right? If not, it will stuff up the cylinder 1 TDC signalling.
  3. The correct flex plate part number is 05080065AA.
  4. There should be a spacer washer between the flex plate and the crank, and another on the outboard side between the flex plate and the bolt hears. The inside one would be important to align the sensor teeth with the sensor.
