Default Alternator replaced now Fan Blower crook

Have a my 2014 Diesel wk2 and just had the alternator replaced as it cooked itself, seems like it will be a recall soon.
Everything works well except the blower fan seems to not be as powerful as it was before the alternator died
On the front screen the fan says its on max 7 but it doesnt blow as hard.
Any body have any idea as to how they work, does the fan go through a set of resisters and the HVAC controls the current which changes fan speed ??

Heading off for the weekend in land and its gona be hot so would like the A/C at full speed

Unless I'm imaginationing it, I'm pretty sure I've had at least one car that used a separate fuse for the high speed fan position.

Thanks but I feel a little stupid now, I checked the fuses and all good.
The Hvac system was on outside air, once I put it to recycle mode fan speed increased and volume so all good now Thanks............
