Also, I told my mechanic about it today and he said it's not limited to Jeeps. He said he was driving a Patrol one day and it went across 3 lanes of traffic unexpectedly.

No , its not limited to jeeps ,but because of our 5 link (flexy) front end its a little more prone to it.
Cant remember specs but wheel aligners have it in there book.

The only thing that can be adjusted on a live axil is toe in/out. Toe should be zero. This can be set with a tape measure.

It was lack of Caster on my lifted ZJ. lazy mechanics don't bother to check for the correct caster for vehicle and use a fairly versatile setting.

It turned out the Jeep needed alot more after it was set right all was fixed.

Castor is not adjustable on ZJ or WJ with factory control arms.Can get a little with offset ball joints but these are mainly for correcting minor camber issues.
I experimented with slotting upper control arm bolt boles to give castor adjustment but found no effect on DW even with lots of castor.
