Default So, I have P2015 & P1270 error codes..

How screwed am I?

I bought my 06/07 WH Lardeo 3.0 Diesel second hand. I suspect no TSB's have been completed on it.

12 months ago it refused to go into low range, and I've still not had that fixed. Now, today, it went into limp mode and threw up both P2015 & P1270 codes.

I've spoken to a Jeep specialist today who is going to get back to me with more info, but briefly said that it's expensive as all hell as they need to remove the transmission to fully remove the turbo and all its paraphernalia?

Any advice on questions I should ask, or info I should know before I talk more with the mechanic would be appreciated.

EDIT: As an update, I've been told $2-$3k to properly repair & clean the induction(which include stripping the motor quite a lot, includes disconnecting the transmission). I have also read about a resistor fix/mod. So, further info on the quote I've been provided and any info on the resistor mod would be cool.

EDIT EDIT: I have spoken with mechanic again, last invoice he did for the same job was $3500. Will most likely need a new intake to the turbo, as I have the old orange seal version, so that'll be more. *IF* the manifolds are/get damaged they are expensive. Mechanic guessed $1000 each..

Cheers.

The no low range is probably the N23 worldwide safety recall debacle that started over two years ago. Go to the Jeep dealer and get them to check if it has had the initial N23 recall software update. If it did and hasn't had any more N23 updates it almost certainly the problem. FCA and their dealers are fully aware of this and it has to be fixed entirely foc even though you are well out of warranty by FCA plus they are now giving rebates for out of pocket expenses .Thousands world wide lost low range when initial recall done. Ring FCA if dealers states doesn't know anything about it.Look for more info on the N23 no low range AJOR thread. The new modified (stops oil dripping on swirl motor)black seal (old seal orange)elephant hose to the turbo is not expensive to get from the US around $200.dollars. Part no. 53013672AE google number and various suppliers come up eg $101.00 US from Morris 4x4.The resistor mod is easy to do and keeps the swirl flaps open $5.00 Note also there is a TSB for this well known problem. If you put enough pressure on the dealer and /or FCA it might be fixed FOC .TSB for DTC 1270 is 09-002-07. P2015 is a fuel issue ie faulty fuel rail pressure sensor. Remember that a good Mercedes mechanic can repair these Merc diesel motors.

He is a post I did a couple of years ago about a swirl motor bypass that I did. No disassembly required.

Run away, don't go back to that mechanic.
Intake tube's are on eBay.

Intake manifold does NOT need to be removed to change the swirl motor nor does the transmission, just the turbo.

If it was running fine before swirl failure then why remove & clean the manifold? Just do the resistor mod.

Google WK Grand Cherokee swirl motor failure.

Thank you, gentlemen. The interim resistor is in place. I'll get a more robust solution over the weekend.

With regards to my faults. I mucked around with the resistor and I no longer have the p2015, instead have a p2008 & p1270. However, according to Torque, they are both non active and the ECU is waiting for 'N' drive cycles before it will clear codes on its own. So, I think we're good.

Is it worth doing any other mods, ie elephant hose or catch cans, etc as extra damage prevention? Or with the swirl motor out of the picture should I just crack on, as is?
