well if you compare it to something slow like riding a bicycle, then yes the XJ is fast.

The xj would have to be one of the quickest fourbies of its era, but i agree - it doesn't take a very special car to drag an xj at the lights!

I may be confused, and dont get me wrong im not saying the XJ is some world beater but even of this era some ten years later how many fourbys could beat an XJ in a straight line (say over the 1/4 mile) there wouldnt be to many.

That was sorta my point. It's not that fast, but it's still faster than these tools with droney exhausts and huge wings on their econoboxes.
I already have a fastish car so I know what fast is, but the turbo whistle and smoking tyres give the game away pretty fast when I give it some stick. The Jeep is more fun for the surprise and humilation it gives to these idiots in their riced up buzzboxes Of course I'm not going to go drag an SS Commodore in the Jeep ...

I don't know, if you ever pull up next to my SS give it a shot, I drive it like an old grandpa!
I should add if you pull up next to my leadfoot wife in the SP23 you might have issues though
