Ok JJ you are a legend, we are getting somewhere. If I earth the head unit to a solid ground and leave the outer sheath of the RCA grounded we have no noise, none what so ever not even with revs. Now the arial is not grounding properly either as the deck will not operate withouit an additional earth. Now on old Holdens I used to use the arial outer sheath as a ground for my decks befoe the days of amps became popular. Do you reckon this is also affecting things? Should I make sure it is grounded?

Ok appologies the whine is still there, although with the head unit properly grounded it is a fair bit quieter.
EDIT: OK I have solved the problem of the stereo whine. If I connect a wire from the head unit ground to the outer shield on the RCA there is absolutly no whine, what so ever. Next problem why would that fix it and is there anything I can do so I don't have a "farmers fix"? Now I can go to bed without trying to solved the problem while I sleep, LOL..

It is caused by a ground loop as I mentioned before, it is almost always because of a bad ground, if the head unit isn't grounded properly it will try to find a ground where ever it can and if that means through the RCA cables then it will and then it will cause noise.....

Left it at home and drove the brother in laws Hilux into work. The shame and embarrassment is eating me up inside...

Gotta finally pull my finger out and order a new distributor. Thinking this one about $120 delivered, any comments?
Also, best bet for new calipers? Importing from states isn't great value due to mass...

considered rebuilding? new pistons and seals are pretty cheap and its not an overly difficult job.
