Ok, looking back through the nivomat rattle thread it looks like it may have just been the diesels that got the self leveling shocks....? Dunno.

That's good to know, let us know which aftermarket was installed.

I'm still on my loaner vehicle, so enjoying it while i can

Cool Drive sell Bosch, Denso, etc and so on. It probably just means it didn't come from Jeep Australia stock.

I can’t overstate how happy I am to have my Jeep back. A week of driving a kluger reminded me how much I love my Jeep

You sure got it back relatively quick.

Mines been in for a good 2 weeks. I can only speculate there are more issues/parts that need replacing other than just an alternator and PCM.

With the amount of emails and phone calls between myself - dealer, myself - FCA, dealer - FCA, I think I will just let them sort it out and do what they need to do at their own pace. Its quite heart breaking to know things can fail so easily or stupidly, so if it was to break, let it be in their hands.

Just glad I'm not out somewhere remote when it happened. It was only 1.5 weeks before it happen that we were out travelling.

Agreed. I'm under no illusion that the oem replacement about get fitted to my diesel at my expense will be any different to the original - just newer. My objective is to get rid of a 5 y/o original which is more likely to be a candidate for failure, and buy some time before the new modified version alternator is available and a recall is issued on the diesel. Then I'll be after my money back from FCA for this interim measure (which they've already agreed to).

For preventative measures, make sure that your battery is in good condition. The less it is able to deliver to spurious loading, the more the alternator will be required to supply.

Whilst keeping an eagle eye on the EVIC voltmeter over the long weekend's travels, I was wondering about adding a lithium jump pack in the alternator circuit to smooth out peak demands on it.
