Righto, different tactic this morning, inlet it warm up in the driveway for a bout 10 mins, drove to the servo, sat there for a bit while I went in, left it running
Have it a bit of a hiding on the way to work, still whistling but no errors thrown today, hmmmm.
Other days it's thrown the error within about 3 mins.

Can you take the egr tube off the inlet manifold & have a look inside at the flap positions when the engine is shutdown? From memory the ones on my 2015 model sit in the open position when the engine is shut down.

Cheers

The GDL vid discusses removing the intake to access the 'valley hose'....one vid states it is shortened to show only how to remove the intake and not access the valley hose....same vid just shortened..as our old buses dont have the valley hose the vid is not applicable....and...because ours (diesel jobs) werent in the states prior '14, there is very minimal footage on the job....All Grand said 'engine out' is their method....just for Grippys sake I hope the fella stating he has done it by removing one head is on the ball....thread has me putting/using more snake oil in the tank when I next fuel up

As TR Laredo said look at the EGR intake pipe, probably clagged up and have a lookie inside the manifold.
I would give it a good dose of cleaner down the air intake , might clean something out, then a good burn down the highway for half an hour or more to make sure the soot oven has good burn a sit will need it ..........

I've been told by All Grand and multiple other people that this model is a ball ache.
Spoke to old mate just then, he's waiting on prices for gaskets etc. He said he doesn't need the head off, but has to dick around taking the turbo off and some other problem but has done it before and recently on his brother's car.
My14 onwards the turbo inlet is different and easier to access.
I am thinking the turbo off method is easier, it's certainly cheaper and quicker than engine out and 3 bloody days.
Either way I'm looking at a few grand down the drain.
Old mate did mention that sometimes because the sensors are sooo sensitive that even if 1 runner is slightly blocked that it will have a hissy fit and sometimes spraying some magic spray will loosen her up

Bloody WSM is useless .... what a bluddy pain...

I would have thought someone would explain exactly what the problem is as surely its has been come across before, while many jobs Jeep say pull engine out or similar drastic measure there are easier work arounds........ At least the heads don't come off which certainly was a bit strange.... In all the research i did for getting one of these that never came up but I did pick the 2015 as being the best of breed at the time, never heard about the hose of hell either................ bluddy cars............ but then horses can be just as bad.

Sooo, massive update.
Dropped it off this morning at local Repco who specialises in cleaning DOF,s.
Few chats with progress, old mate just called and said dpf is shagged and the pressure sensors are stuffed. One was out and other was cross threaded in there. He asked who else has mucked around with it as it looks like someone has tried to get in there and steal it. Bloody thing, no wonder I've heard the loud whistling and smelled the exhaust fumes.
All up, diagnosis, rip out dpf, new thermostat, air filter and new dpf will be 2750. Not sooo bad, but still a ball ache..
