Hi all spidermonkey here, well my jeep is running great since I replaced the pre o2 sensor on the right bank of my 2004 jeep cherokee limited 3.7 litre. however it has developed an issue and Id appreciate some advice from jeep owners. the problem is that when I ldon,t use my jeep for a day or so the battery goes flat, charge up and goes good. leave for a another day and flat agian. replaced battery with heavey duty one and still same problem.

have taken it to 3 different auto electrics and none seem to know what is wrong. fitted an isolator switch but makes no difference. battery always shows fully charged yet when I turn key to start all I get is a seriers of clicks. leave on charge for 30min s and starts up great.

had alternator checked and all is working well. does anyone have any ideas please???

I had a similar issue in my TJ. I traced it to a foot well light shorting to earth which was draining the battery.

So by the sounds of it you may have a short. The trouble is if that's the problem it might be a bastard of a thing to find.

My recommendation would be to starting pulling fuses one at a time to try and isolate which circuit is giving you grief and go from there.

Check you glove box lamp if I had a dollar for every flat battery I’ve seen caused by a faulty or misagjusted door switch, I’d be, well you know the rest.

Basically, use a multimeter to find the circuit that is drawing when it shouldn't, starting with the most likely culprits. I would be checking the grounding connections too, usually located on the engine bay sides as bolts that lugs are connected to.

The battery could be shagged too, with just a little help from the charger she is fine, but left on it's own after a while it's.toast
