Default Innes National Park: Yorke Peninsula SA

So we decided to camp and explore Innes National Park over the new year long weekend. Innes is about 300km from adeladie at the bottom of the Yorke Peninsulla SA.

this was our first trip with the larger tyres (285/70/17) and towing the trail and is we used it as a test for a longer 8 week trip (bottom of WA) later this year.

this is just a bit of commentary and photos of the trip and things to see and do at Innes.

So first stop was Pt Wakefield for a pie, an iced coffee and some fuel. Then first left towards Yorke Peninsula, Marion Bay & innes national park

Should point out that Marion Bay is the last set of flushing (public access toilets at the community centre) as there are only long drop toilets in the park. So this was a must stop for the wife and our 2 girls

We camped at Stenhouse Bay. It was $46 for 3 nights. There are 23 sites (all un-powered) which range in size (ours fitted 2 x camper trailers) abd are realitivley close together. There are also 2 long drops.

A short walk from the campground is emu bay/beach and the stenhouse jetty. Both are absolutely beautiful and suitable for swimming. We tried fishing off the jetty but sadly no luck.

Note the march flies are intense if the wind isnt blowing.

Just on tbe cost. The $46 included the park pass & camp fee. If you already have an SA parks pass, then the cost would be reduced

Also there is no fuel in the national patk itself. But marion bay is only a 5 minute drive from stenhouse campground & you can get diesel & unleaded here plus other supplies

Wow, have't been down that way in a long time, I certainly don't remember it costing that much to camp. Are there any tracks down there at all mate?

All the firetracks were closed off. So it was just the main road and dirt off shoots to the campground and beaches.

We dont have a parks pass, so the price ($46) included the pass and camp fee

So i loaded up the hema maps to th he ipad, but unfortunately we were only able to access the main rd and dirt access tracks.

Also you could drive from one end (stenhouse bay) to the otherend (browns beach) in 30-45 minutes
