At the moment 4speed it will be a whole box, still working out the kit form.
Making it so it's STRONG and will stand up to someone trying to break into it. It's made from 2mm thick zinc plate, so it will never rust or corrode.

I will go with the marine carpet then and will get pics up shortly.

make the deck to extend completly from side to side (of rear) of course allowing for when ya tops down. Recess tie down point on the top deck, must be flush mounted so they wont get in the way when not used. you would carry all the heavy stuff in the box and use the deck for lighter stuff when camping.

i am just nearly finished a 15mm ply and 1.6mm galv steel box for my TJ. carpeted. just gotta add a 6 inch gate to the perimeter and some noice gery laminate to the exposed edges of the ply and then bolt it in. No its not accessable from the top. The ply aloud me to rout (sp) a groove in the ply to accept the lip of some plastic storage boxes i got from bunnings to use as drawers.

who am i kidding. my old man made it....it keeps him outa mums way.

I made a false floor out of 15mm form work ply it cant be lifted out from the top unless you take off the top (soft or hard) easly. it only goes in and out one way and thats just goes in and out..(thight squeez) you cant open the tail gate with out a key and for behind the front seats im still working on it but who knows how to fold forward 96 tj front seats anyway other than an owner.
i have 4 flat folding tie down hooks out of an 80s cruiser in each corner and covered in marine carpet.. does me fine..

I will be posting picks soon of my storage system soon. Made from electrical unistrut bolted to rear seat mounts and kiddie seat mounts. Using unistrut roller wheels bolted to lockable tradesman tool boxes. Rolls in & out nicely. Also rack on top for esky & gear & sleeping. Should post picks in a couple of weeks.
