Well finally sorted out my WK2 lift kit...Installed OME front struts with Dobinson 100kg springs to suit the UNeek bullbar and Warn winch (97kg)..Dobinson Nivomat compatible rear springs with OE Nivomat shocks..Results: ride pretty damn near to OE, Lift 40mm front and rear retaining 3.5tonne towing..NVH as quiet as....Now I'm happy..See my web site for further reasons why I went this way.

PS Overall lift with 265 BFG tyres is a bit over 50mm.....Mind you I went across the Simpson at standard height when my WK2 was 6 weeks old and only touched 2 or 3 times; thanks to the UNeek lower bash plate, all things went perfectly...I'm off to Cape Melville in October so the extra 50mm will be needed and appreciated.

How does this compare to the CRDSTU setup?

Hello SnakeDoctor...Sorry for the delay..Been out of the country until last week so just catching up on emails and jet lag.

CRDSTU lift??...Some like it & some don't...I'm in-between on it so don't wish to comment other than: pretty sure Stu uses King Springs I think but retains the OE front struts (which have been known to fracture under stress) and also he retains the rear OE shocks - reason he has these so called "TopOut Plates". I believe StU is about to add Bilstiens to his kit so no need for these "Topout Plates" which I suspect are simply body blocks and spacers to keep the shocks within their design travel limits..I could be wrong but I can't see how they could be anything else...Anyway it works and I have heard that it's a bit clunky in the rough and the front struts aren't really designed for extreme stress...the OME struts are as are their rear shocks...I had issues the the OME Spring ratings though (intitial kit and maybe recalibrated since as aresult of my complaints to ARB)..I chose Dobinson srings to replace the OME springs (when told that an OME fix was months away). The Dobinsons don't give a full 50mm lift but the ride is near as damn it as good as the OE...I'm happy with the OE fronts struts but took off the OME rear shocks in favour of the Nivomat compatible Dobinson rear srings and Nivomat shocks..they are however in my travel spares kit..The likelyhood of getting Nivomat shocks in the bush is as near as to me winning the Lotto..Nix Nix.
No doubt those who have the CDRSTU lift will comment but that's what forums are about.

Thanks Wanderer,

Is this summary of your current setup accurate?

Front springs: Dobinson [40mm lift, 50-100kg accessories]
Front shocks: Old Man Emu

Rear springs: Dobinson [40mm lift]
Rear shocks: OEM/Nivomat

Yep pretty much it..Dobinson do have their own front struts and constant load rear spring/shocky set as well as the Nivomat but I already had the OME kit..If you're after the 50mm lift OME springs they are sitting in my shed at the right price...Cheap...real cheap.

Might add that I have taller tyres wcich give me an extra 13mm on top of the lift..Speedo is exactly what the GPS reads and those speed detector signs you often see.. The OE speedo calibration reads about 3km/hg higher that actual ground speed but now is spot on with the BFGs...doesn't leave much room for cruise control over-run down hill which can be substantial so I found out the hard way...Twice!!

Also I'm not that fussed with the idea of adding coil spacers for lift or (Topout) unless the bump stops are replaced to prevent "Coil Bind" when fully compressed..Can cause serious suspension damage on rough tracks like the Tanami,Gibb or Canning..bit far from home to break things...

Cheers Wanderer, I'm 90% sure i'll go with the CRDSTU setup, either their 40mm or their ~65mm setup.

In my experience (and based on your feedback above) the big aftermarket companies do exactly the minimum required to get their products to kinda fit, especially when adapting existing products, the rest is marketing fluff.

Hi SnakeDoctor...Yiou may not have read the last bit on my previous post..added after you posted this I think...I'd ask Stu what actually are his "Topout Plates" and if they are what I think they are then ask if he replaces the bump stops...I listened to one of his lifted WK2s going over some speed bumps and certainlt heard clunking (rather loud) but not sure if the lift was the higher offering.

The suspension lift system was capped at 2.5" so as to not exceed the factory tolerances which are built into this model Jeep as a result of the Airbag equipped suspensions
I'd take note of what they say about max lift..They have been in the Jeep lift business for as long as I can remember.
