I had a win.

After being rebuked by Jeep dealer on free updates, I took the matter to NSW Government Consumer Affairs. My stance was based on four points;'

1. That the MAPS were not up-to-date at time of purchase, for which the law is clear that, unless otherwise stated, new purchases must be current.

2. That the supplied manuals and paperwork, as well as the salesman, were silent on the fact that map updates were at a fee.

3. The service manual states that, as part of a scheduled service, the dealer will do necessary system updates. This is ambiguous and does not list exemptions, ie maps.

4. Jeep would be aware that Smart Phones have created a paradigm shift in consumer expectations as software and apps (including maps) are automatically updated. Jeep's practices are inconsistent with current consumer reasonable expectations.

In summary, following some professional non-emotive exchanges, Jeep agreed to update maps at no-change.

I did try but the system would not accept the maps on my car.
In the end i just bought a video interface module which gives you carplay etc on your current headunit so you dont loose any functions.
Very interested in the video interface, I have the 2014 GC LTD, just don’t want to lose the heated seats and other stuff, can you please tell me where you purchased it and who fitted it, I’m in Perth, this sounds like a very good option.

I bought it off ebay, fitted it myself but im sure if you wanted to get it fitted most car audio places would do it.
Apart from taking the radio out of the car and fitting a small pc board inside tge radio, the rest is plug and play.

The brand was Azton. My unit had a small pc board and a small module you put under the dash etc.
You retain all your cars functions as you can press the button on the rear of the steering wheel and it will go between your standard radio settings and your phone.
There was a video on fitting it by a company called Niffty City
If you buy the unit and need help can help with my experience fitting it.

I was very surprised a couple of weeks ago when I turned on the Nav system in mine to find my way to a Perth address...the software in the Nav system is only Queensland!...no other States...pretty pathetic imo.

Thanks for sharing. This looks great! A simple and cheap(er) solution to adding car play. Is there any lag/latency when using Carplay interface? Is the audio quality as good as Spotify via Bluetooth? What was involved in the install? The items look fairly plug and play with the exception of that circuit board!

I assume these products are the same / similar to what you've got?
