Default GPS and Map Updates

What is the best way to go about getting the maps on the GPS updated on a 2015 Grand Cherokee Limited? Are there any new options in recent times without changing the unit?

In a word, no. If you believe what they are telling us there will be new maps out shortly. I have been told that since Sept 2015, along with fixing the fault that is in the Cherokee version that stops you from being able to select the state you want to go to.. .

Definitely due for a map update, the maps would have to be 3-4 years old now.

My new Grand Overland came with May 2015 maps. A new 75th I drove yesterday had November 2015 maps.
They promise an upgrade this year.

Jeep will NOT get you from Coffs to the Gold Coast and back again.

I have found myself driving through paddocks several times.

Is anyone actually happy with the Jeep Nav system? I've been considering buying an activation code from the Ebay bloke for my Laredo's Uconnect but seems the nav system is less than useless according to most of the comments on here. The other option is to buy a Hema HN7 Navigator for a lot less than a bloody activation code for the Jeep Nav. $430 v $600 or so. The Hema gets good raps particularly off road which is what I'm interested in. The other option I haven't looked too deep into is a cheap arse 7" Android tablet running OzziExplorer.

I don't have the option of a GPS activation being a pre update WK2 uconnect, but I've just gone with a good dashmount for my iphone in my Laredo. I can then use whatever nav app takes my fancy - google maps, hema, mud maps, etc. Hema explorer app is only $40 for example, and they are updated regularly. An ipad mini or just a phablet would probably be better for increased screen size in the long run.
