Default So i Finally quit

Ive had my WK2 for just over 4 years now and after getting it i went to 20 inch wheels and low profile tyres, thankfully i kept my 18s

so today i swapped back to the 18s im sick of the harsh ride with the 20s especially on our goat track country roads.

even though the car handled better on the 20s, im happy to sacrifice that now ( old person ) for comfort.

also with less offset the steering is lighter.

so that was my afternoons work with my WK2

I use the 20’s with passenger rated road tyres, smooth and not any noise greater than most but change to 18’s in LT spec when towing the van on big trips only. Best of both worlds but it still comes down to tyre types on the rims. Surprisingly, after each 9k trip I am having to rotate the LT’s as backs are 2mil + lower than the fronts due to near max rear axle loading. If you got both, best of both worlds I say.

When I went Jeep hunting one of the must haves was 18", availability and LT rated so I can get the pressure in them for towing. Regularly rotated so they wear together.

Wife didn’t like the feel of the air suspension on Overland after coming from WH Grand & AT tyres, so I brought the best Michelin 20” tyres made a huge difference to factory tyres won’t get big k’s out of them to soft they hang on which is what I was after, ride much better as well

hangon did you say the wife didn't like air suspension?

Comfiest, smoothest ride on air compared to coils .

Clearly the bond between man and machine here is not as strong as we first thought. How can we help.
