Default Jeep Service Centre’s Vic

Hi
I live in Ballarat and have the Jeep in Tamworth Jeep service centre at the moment, that’s where it broke down. The car has a major issue which will take a while to fix so RACV will ship car home to Ballarat but worried as Jeep service centre in Ballarat is only a few months old after taking over selling jeeps from Peter Stevens Motors.

For a major job ( yes car is under warranty) what would be the best Jeep service centre around Melbourne/Vic or would the Ballarat one be ok.

Thanks in advance

I would ring FCA and see if they would give you some indication of where to take the vehicle. Also depends on what is the major problem.!! Not an option to leave it at the Tamworth Jeep dealer.? I would only leave it at an operation that had at least a couple of fully trained Jeep mechanics and is capable of doing such repairs as necessary

I could but that’s 1000k from home and they will not ship it home from Tamworth. But RACV will do what they call a recovery and get it home with the caravan.

Honestly, in the 4 years I owned a Jeep in Melbourne, I never found a dealership I could trust to do anything more than an oil change, let alone one that had any ability to diagnose or repair serious faults. The only time I’ve ever got a major issue fixed was after I commenced the legal process to seek replacement or refund under Consumer Laws. At that point FCA sent out one of their own techs to inspect the vehicle. To his credit, he was knowledgeable and helpful, and diagnosed the fault.

So I guess my recommendation would be a Melbourne Dealer, for no other reason than because it’s close to head office and easy for an FCA tech to get to, should it come to that. But personally I’d avoid City Jeep - I never experienced anything other than incompetence and lying from them.

Mine’s now out of warranty with multiple unresolved faults - that were raised within warranty but the dealerships were too disorganized and/or incompetent to actually manage to fix them.

Honestly, good luck. Don’t take any shit and if it smells like an excuse, call bullshit early and hard. These guys won’t do anything unless it’s under duress.

I stumbled on a really good Jeep mech at the old Geelong dealership here. Happened to cross paths when I was in getting my fuel filter, and another time an O2 sensor. He was awesome help. Looked after me well. Can't remember his name.

And then they changed ownership to a Holden dealership (ringing just for parts immediately became absolutely futile), moved across town, then left Geelong completely.
