Default Resin top roof racks... Roof top tent??

Gday Fellas,

I have allready posted a thread on roof rack options for the hard top and got some good advice. I plan on using the rola resin top ones for my oztent only.

However I came across this on youtube, it shows a JK with a roof top tent mounted to the resin top. There are more vids of this vehicle in this configuration driving off road so I'm figuring that this car is not just a demo/show boater.

Anyone have any clues (ARB in Darwin dont know) as to what this setup is (ie attached to the inner cage).

Here is the link :

Be keen to know what you guys think.

I wonder if it's the same setup as this one?

I saw a photo in last months Overlander taken in the SEMA show in the US where ARB North America had a JK set up with a roof top tent. From what I could see there were no obvious roof rack supports running down the side of the car so it appeared to be mounted directly to the roof. I've written to ARB here to see if they can get any info on how this was done but I've not had a reply yet.

I also spoke to the local Opposite Lock guys who said that they would be happy to help design a rack that bolted through the hard top and down onto the roll cage, so presumably similar to the set up in the photos from Festa. I've not followed up with them on this yet as there are a few other things I want for the JK before I get roof racks but it looks like it could be the way to go when I do decide to get one.

The problems of rooftop storage for JKers is no different to the age old issues encountered with fibreglass roof 40 series cruisers .... or plastic/fibreglass canopies on utes.

Look at how those problems have been solved over the last 50yrs - and all you have to do is modify a design to suit a JK

That is a very tidy arrangement on that white one.

Just a shame that you can't take the hardtop off with the rack on.

You probably could; would be allot of work though...
