i would add a cross member at the very front and the very rear of that design, that way the skid place has something to bolt to at either end, instead of just the sides and the middle.

Have been thinking of something like this myself after turning my stock skid plate into a surrealist piece of art.

Do you think those cross pieces would slide easily over rocks?

Extra bracing might help protect the things above - but if the skid is too thin it will still bend leaving you with nice dish shapes that will still hangup.....

Jeff, there`ll be a full plate, following end pieces shape, to cover the entire section. If ya catch my drift.

Wooders, Think I`ll go for 5mm plate now

I saw a red TJ that does the outback at Wandin last year. I think it could be Paul Vnderhorst. All I remember is the guy who owned it had something to do with the event itself rather than just been an entrant. Any how he has a completely flat, i mean completely flat cross member. I am not sure what Transfer case he was running though.
Look if I was going to do something like this I would seriously consider cutting the tunnel out and doing the mototmount lift and Transmission lift along with the t-case all in one hit to be able to run a completely flat skid. Your skyjacker relocation bracket will work no problems cause it is independant of the body. Then I would have a new tunnel built and folded to clear all the running gear easlily and weld that in place of the old one. Could even incorporate gauges and switches too. Its not that expensive to have this kind of work done. You would be surprised.
I would also like to know what you do for bolts for your motor mount lift as I have the blocks but no bolts. I think they are based on the snake racing design am I right?

Look forward to the thread called "LOW RIDER'
Cheers

Nice thread, we need to combine this and the long arm debate, the to best threads for a long time
The best thing to happen to TJ owners, The release of the JK. Now tj's are not worth selling so we are all looking at modding the hell out of our rigs!
