Default 08 JK Unlimited Rubicon

Hi Guys, Been a while but still here...LOL

Im looking at an 08 JK Unlimited Rubicon, Petrol Auto.

Its got ARB bullbar, OME 2" lift, MyGIG setup, AEV snorkey, Longranger Fuel Tank.

Its got 134000KMS and Im hoping to get for $18k.

I used to have a standard JK Unlimited Petrol 6 speed.

Can you guys share some information regarding the Rubicon?

Is it a better rig than the standard JK?

Thanks

rubicon is better or equal to sport in every way

...other than the transfer case gearing can be too 'crawl focused' for sand driving

fuel usage can be slightly higher due to the lower gear ratios and higher freeway revs

sounds like a good setup though, along with the standard rubi features i would say this vehicle could take you almost anywhere

^^ Agreed. That is a good price you're aiming for and the extra fuel is definitely worth it.

I have a 2 dr and frankly there just isn't enough fuel. That is my only gripe about the JK petrols. 3.8 or 3.6 or V8....there just isn't enough fuel haha

Thanks guys, what are they like for towing. I have a camper about 1100kg and when I used my old JK manual it wasnt very pleasant to tow. It seemed the gearing was all wrong....

Yes, the manual sport has shocking gearing even for general driving let alone towing!! I tow a similar weight camper with mine and it sucks.

The Rubi with its lower gearing (4.1 diffs) and an auto will tow it with ease.

Just make sure to fit transmission cooler

Id suggest a dual battery setup and a rhinorack backbone roof rack and you'll be sweet

The lower gearing will help and it'll be fine for slower speeds but just don't expect to be in a hurry to get places. I had an auto 3.8 Rubi JKU as a hire car a few years ago and was quite impressed with how it drove at slower speeds. The initial pick up was sharper than my CRD auto due to not having turbo lag etc BUT it was a bit asthmatic at freeway speeds. Can't image that's going to improve any with a tonne of camper hanging off the back.
