Thread hijack . . . but yeah. Decided to do it once and do it right. I've got some Superior outer seals like we were talking about (still pretty much in trial stages at the moment) from Suburban at the same timel - I think they were around the $200 mark.

I've got a few smaller jobs to get done on it this weekend but will try to get over to Cal's for some proper testing. Now just got to sell my 37" Xterrains so that I can buy some offroad tyres and it will be all systems go.

Yeah I ended up getting the outer axle seals as well.. They're going on the vehicle tonight before it goes off road.

Just waiting on a 5 on 5.5 hub conversion to arrive now then to start building the roll cage Getting it up to spec for some of the comps I'm driving in this year is a pain in the ass

Having done that myself, ....yes you can do it breifly - but it will cause the tailgate to sag over time.

It is obviously heaps cheaper than buying a new rear bar and swing arm assembly . . . but I would probably only consider it a short (say 12 months or less) term solution with a view to giving yourself some more time to save some coin for a rear bar and tyre carrier.

Damage? On an old 40 Series cruiser that I had, it eventually started to warp the sheet metal where the brackets connected. I think the issue with the rear TJ door is that being a side-swing door, the door is likely to sag and not align so well after time.
