Hi Guys I finally got to doing this install. I know there was some interest way back when I was toying with the idea. Basically I used most of a $99 SRT 240v compressor and then adapted a 12v/45amp/150lpm Gasweld compressor to it. As you can see I have also made a surround for it which holds the comp and tank in place. I used the 8BS cables that charge my caravan aux and end in an anderson plug at the towbar for power.
The loom for the unit is made from 8BS and connects to the pressure cut off switch and plugs into the power near the tow bar via another anderson plug. The compressor will be secured with wide velcro which will adhered to both surfaces using silicone. I was going to secure it straight to the receiver with silicone but realised it may need to be removed without too much effort at some point.
The nuts on the side of the housing I scored from some broken furniture and they worked a treat. I was going to use wing nuts as they would be quick release but the problem was something might get scratched. The current nuts fit flush with the housing and can be undone with an allen key, so it is pretty much quick removal anyway. I did toy with the idea of a flip down door to store the hose and and for draining the moisture, but there was not really that much room underneath with wheel arch there. In its current form it is a 2-3 minute job to take the housing off anyway.
Regards A
