I bought a Jeep. ..well, another one .
Hello Lads, been a while since I have been by. Just dropped in to say I bought another Jeep.
Last August , my much loved B2, 2003 KJCRD manual, was written off by a gent who ran a red light, I had actually bought a JK, but really just wanted a KJ, and with the loss I took on the value of the KJ, I won't be able to keep the JK.
Sooooo..
I decided to grab another KJ, bought a 2006 CRD 6 speed manual, and it's in the process of getting all the goodies from my ols Jeep fitted into/onto it. I have already swapped over the interior, as I had the dark slate interior and extreme sport seats, that look a bit better than the light grey interior.
About to put in the lift kit, and wheels and tyres this weekend, (weather permitting), then it's just the roof rack and some wiring, duel battery ect ect.
But happy to be with a KJ again.
B3 lives.

Nice, I've been doing the thinking about whether to move on from the KJ, but it's just too nice to drive when all is well, that I can't bring myself to do it!

Yeah, I know, I just like the size, the handling, drives like a car, goes where "I" want to go , I really agonized about swapping to the JK, and it is a nice one, CRD JKU, but, it's just a bit big, a bit too much 4x4 for what I need, and it's a bit of a waste , me not using it for what it's intended for, maybe if I had a girlfriend, and she had a car, things would be different.
But I took a real hit in the accident, torn a muscle in my right forearm, cracked cartilage on my ribs ect ect, healed up mostly, I took a financial hit from it too, only got half what my it is taking to replace what I had in my old KJ, and it was going to help finace the mods to the JK, so all a little much.
Kj will do me fine, always has, and I'm happy with that.

Big weekend on the tools, and work over the past few weeks.
So far,
Romed all the light grey interior, replaced it with the dark slate interior from my first KJ (2004 extreme sport ) So all nice and dark in there, carpet , seats, dash all replace, as well as all the interior panels. Looks nice. Had to use a black vinyl spray on some of the dash, just couldn't remove everything, but looks good.
Put on my Rola roof rails and rack, it's that nice black rounded look one, it actually sticks forward a little more than I thought it would, just seems to cove the sunroof about 8cm or so, but when I i opened up the sunroof, I cant see it, and it doesn't obstruct it at all.
Big stuff.
Replaced the 2inch lift that was in there, with the custom lift from my 2003 , all CRDSTU coils and shocks, ( the rear coils were custom made years ago, and still have plenty on lift ) in the front, I also have Stu's top plates, as well as some clevis spacers. Replaced the upper front control arms with JBA's I had as well. It's a really good ride, bumps are nothing to this system, nice and controlled, Crickey, you can hardly feel a speedbump. I put in new rear upper bumpstops, and my "special" lower rear bumpstops ( half a rubber mallet cut off and stuck to the spring cradle) , stops over flexing and stops tyre contact on the bodywork in the guards.
This lift let me put on the wheels and tyres as well. I'm running a set of Mickey Thompson STZ's 265/70/16's , they still have half the tread on them, so gives me a little time to figure out what I'll replace them with. Thing some Nitto Grappers , will see if they are available in the size I want.
Only a few more things to do, I will replace the fuel tank with my old one, ( fuel gauge sender seems dodgy in the new one, also fit fuel tank skid plate. Will look around and see if I can find a transmission and transfer case skids. Get a free flow exhaust on there and then pop it out to Stu to get a GDE tune, and some new front lower balljoints, as well as new clevis bushes, heck, might replace all the bushes, and start fresh.
Sorry no pics yet, long days , no time left for photos, will post some up soon

Welcome back! I agree - the KJ is just the right size, pretty comfortable, drives well and incredibly manoeuvrable and good enough off road with the right tyres and suspension. If ours got totalled, I have no idea what I'd replace it with.
