Default Steering Wheel Options

Anyone know if the Cherokee sport steering wheel fits the wangler's of around the same period?

Finding it hard to get a 97 TJ steering wheel, looks like I can get Cherokee steering wheels from around 2000 with the airbag reasonably easily and cheap. Only real difference I can see is the aribag part is a little smaller to allow the buttons on the side for cruise control, if the air bag will plug into the wrangler without issue and the steering wheel will bolt on then it seems like a no-brainer to get one as a substitute.

Can anyone advise if this is fine to do

Cheers

Try all4wdspares at revesby. They are pretty good with jeep parts.

Not sure if a Cherokee wheel will fit but I do feel a rant coming on...

Every time I go to USA 4x4 I can't resist griping that leather TJ Steering wheel that's been hanging on the wall of the office showroom for years.

When I go in there to pay my bill I nervously reach round for my wallet and looking squarely at that little leather booty on the wall, I would hear my late Dad saying "your steering wheel works fine, you don't need it" then after paying I leave with that tail between your legs feeling, you know the one? someone is going to buy that Wheel and I'm going to miss out.

Well wouldn't you know it, the moulding on the top of my old steering wheel came away from the frame so I actually needed it (must of been all that negative quantum thinking) and how easy to sell it to the wife by calmly explaining "But Honey, June's not roadworthy unless I replace it" invisible grin.

Anyway I thought I'd gloat in here (otherwise I'd need to tell people who just rudely walk away, the nerve of some people!), I love it! I just want to drive the long way around. What is it about a leather steering wheel that make you feel this way? I mean I've never had a leather steering wheel before, much less a leather fetish, well not that I'm aware of, perhaps I'm getting a leather fetish manifesting within my TJ. Hmm... I think my seat is developing a rip.

There is one issue with a leather wheel, you find yourself thinking you're driving a sports car but that's OK cause the Jeep reminds you you're not! With each and every bump and grind.

Maybe USA 4x4 is able to get more, I payed less than $300 change over but it was old stock so who knows, give them a call.

sorry to re-hash this old thread..

I need to replace my wheel in an 06 65th anniversary edition as the leather is completely wrecked.

Can't seem to source one for a TJ but there are a few from WJ Grand Cherokees on ebay which appear to be the same. Can any body confirm if they are as they both have different part numbers? pics below

Theres always getting it recovered. Locally theres a few upholsterers that will do it if you look.

Other option is to get a kit from Redline in the US.

Kit looks great but I don't have the patience or accuracy to do it myself.

Does anybody know anybody in Perth who can do this?

cheers
