Default Something is draining my battery

Hi all,

I am facing the issue that some components in my Jeep is draining the battery. In the beginning I thought it would be the dual battery installation, where the relay just went bad.
However I disconnected the second battery in the back and still, within 3 days my battery is empty. I just wondering what this could be. My radio is off and I cant think of anything else which could drain it so quickly.

At the moment I have to disconnect the battery if I leave the car longer than 1 day in the garage without turning on the engine.

Any idea how I can isolate the issue?

Thanks
Joerg

Could it be some lamp that is meant to close when something else is shut?

e.g. glove box lamp, cubby box lamp, bonnet lamp, UHF radio is on etc.

Maybe your alternator is becoming faulty?

Did this just start after putting in the dual battery or was it all good for a while first?

It was already from the beginning. I got this car with the dual battery installation around a year ago. As mentioned I thought it would be the second battery which supposed to get charged when I run the engine, but gets disconnected from the front battery if the engine is off.

I kept the front battery disconnected, which then switched on my Amp and sub woofer, which I thought this would be the root cause. However, I disconnected the battery in the back now and still the front batter got drained.

I checked all lights and all should be off. Also the radio definitely is not running. The Alternator got exchanged 6 months ago, and it was already faulty before. And as long as I drive the car on a regular base (like every day) all is good. So the alternator is charging the battery.
Bonnet light is disconnected for that reason, UHF radio is also switched off. I would need to check the glove box. I have a USB and iPod cable installed which is not really proper installed but just laid in. it might prevent the box to shut completely so that the light keeps burning.

My experience was on a brand new battery. The drain came from the glove box switch being kept open by an interfering object. I hope it is that easy. After being baffled for several days, I then started to check the car in darkness and found a very thin line of light coming from the side of my XJ glove box....

The only other similar experience I have had with battery drain is a dodgy alternator.

If you can still put the power windows up and with the ignition off, you have switched one notch too far on the ignition barrel
