Default Poor Radio Reception

hi.
Has anyone else experienced poor radio reception in their GC.
Mine use to be fine until a few weeks ago when it would not pick up AM at all and now it will only receive FM if you are in the city. Nothing at all outside of town. USB and CD work fine. I have the shark fin aerial. Are these prone to failure?
Regards
Peter

I get constant beeping sounds which come in over the top of the voices when listening to specific AM stations. Doesn’t happen in my other car.

I wonder if it’s related

Might be wi-fi interference - there are so many wi-fi networks blasting away in the CBD you could probably charge up your phone by just walking down the street. Some aerials deal with the interference better than others.

Hi there
The shark fin is for GPS and the actual am fm aerial in on the rear near side glass panel. I live on the Central Coast of NSW and do not listen to am but I must say the FM stations give poor reception compared to my wifes 2012 Mitsubish ASX reception. I have a 2016 overland and never asked to have it looked at by the dealer ship but the warranty expires the end of june when a service is due so I will be asking them to have a look into the poor reception.

Yep this has been a complaint of mine for years, my MY14 Overland was pretty average on FM around town and my MY18 Trailhawk is worse. Ask them to check it but found nothing wrong, and have seen quite a few others with similar issues. It is not too bad out of town so perhaps the comment about interference is a good point. I generally use my iPod of Spotify now, sometimes use Tunein radio to play the FM station I can’t get clearly - crazy but I can’t be bothered pursuing it

I do not think this is an interference problem. 10 k's out of town and their is no reception on either am of fm. Just the hiss of dead air. It sounds like the aerial has been disconnected. Unable to see a radio aerial in side glass as in my old Cherokee sport. Have accessed the shark fin aerial and all seems to be secured.
Basically it just seems to be trying to work without an aerial. Have done a soft reset of the radio system but to no avail.

Your own aerial might be the solution then. Surely a good car audio guy could sort it for you.
