I argued with them that pretty much every part is a Commodore, but they insisted that the parts must state Crewman, which I’ve noticed that there is a huge mark up on. Exactly the same parts, even the serial numbers, but worded differently. F#kin idiots. Any excuse. And it’s annoying because I drive only 12,000k’s a year and the cars lock up at night in a secured garage and during the day at work in a secured underground car park that has cameras everywhere plus security guards. I treat my car well, and it looks brand new both inside and out. Just because others treat theirs like crap then why should I suffer? 31 years I’ve been insured with AAMI and never made a claim and they don’t even give me a discount. My wife’s Captiva is valued at $20,000 more and the insurance is $200 a year less. How the hell do they come up with their prices? I hate all insurance companies, but unfortunately they are a necessary evil. Also, how much are GC windscreens? I’ve noticed some of you guys are saying they’re not cheap.
`Cant understand why you would bother with comprehensive on a car thats valued at $2,200. You would be better to just have third party other property. Less than $200 year. If you prang it as is, they are only going to give you $2,200 less your excess. If you want a higher valuation, talk to Shannons.

I'm with Club 4x4. They are a little more expensive than most but,

You are fully covered no matter where you are, even on unnamed dirt tracks. This is the main difference between them and normal vehicle insurers. You'll find others will only insure you on gazetted roads.

Up to $1,500 coverage towards the cost of recovering your vehicle.

Up to $2,000 coverage for accidental loss or damage to personal effects anywhere in Australia. If you are towing a caravan or camper, this also includes their contents as well.

Full coverage for all accessories and modifications.

Up to $180 a day for 21 days of vehicle rental if your vehicle is stolen

and cover up to $1000 in emergency repairs.

One time I wanted a small brick wall built and a man quoted $5,000. My job was too small for him and he didn't want the business.

AAMI does not like the Crewman! That's it!

I've stayed away from AAMI since I was 21 and will never use them.

I had a diesel Toyota 4Runner SR5 when I was 21 and AAMI wanted $4500 a year to fully insure it.

When I asked why so much, they replied that they consider it a sports car.

When I stopped laughing and ask how the hell can they call it a sports car when its a diesel truck, they said that because it was a 2 door and a tacho.

I told them to stick their insurance up their arse and never went back. I ended up getting it insured for $1200 a year with QBE.
