I got the XJ as I was after an all-rounder but most of my driving is rock crawling type stuff. I wanted power, Solid axels, 5 doors and plenty of availible mods. Although I do lots of touring I don't quite need the space of the bigger 4bys and I have always thought the Cherokee was one of the coolest looking wagons around. There is hardly mid you cant get for the Cherokee so i thought it was the way to go.

With the TJs they are just so unique.

i drive both a Jeep and Patrol, Both have their ups and downs.

Jeep:
Ups:, Nice ride, handling, Economy, smaller,
Downs: Small inside, parts can be expensive,

Patrol:
Ups: Strong, Ballsy, Truck drivetrain, Cheap to mod, Cheap repairs, Keep going forever (most of them), More room,
Downs: Heavy, fuel usage, limited with front end flex offroad

Persoanlly i like both heaps, the jeep a touch more than the patrol. because its quicker mostly. But im currently trying to blend patrol parts into the jeep.

Price, it was cheap. I had my heart set on a single cab hilux but a brand new base model with a tray AND aircon was $5000 more expensive than the brand new TJ with a towbar.

Lucky i bought it cause i need the rear seats for the family. If i had bought the hilux it would be long gone.

Jeeps have character and are exciting every drive, Tojos & Nissans are just appliances.

I uesd to have a 75 cruiser with lots of mod, sold it mainly for having kids.
My girlfriend wanted a smaller 4wd and l want something different (dont see many done up XJ in tassie), but still had to have a strong driveline, solid axles and bigger then a 4 cly (never owned a 4 cly motor in my life). So l brought the jeep and havent turned back. VERY HAPPY WITH IT
