Hi, yes i had to cut a hole into this area but i removed the wipers and the plastic section below to see how much room there was and i found heaps so it was the place for it.
When you take the top section off below the wipers i found it was built in (boxed) and they pull the air in from the drivers side and over to the intake duct on the passenger side.
Mounting it up there keeps it up out of the way and a little dryer.
I am going to build a spare wheel carrier soon and this will remove the spare from the cargo area giving me some room back.
