Default dana diff Mazda

Hi all,
today I went back to the Jeep dealership I worked at to say merry Christmas and have a look at whats new from our Jeep brand.
They had a Mazda Bravo late 06 on the hoist and it was the 4.0litre ford powered one and the rear diff is a Dana 44 trak lock 4.10 ratio and I am sure the tubes are 3 inch in diameter. I asked for a tape and it was 130cm or just over 51 inches from backing plate to backing plate.
I also noted that the housing is much stronger looking as it looks beefier around were the tubes are fitted. These Mazdas are made in South Africa and there roads are much like ours so I think they may be a diff to look at when at the wreckers next. leaf spring set up on them to so not to much to cut off. Six stud flanged axeles but all that can be changed.
Look for one I think you will be impressed by the housing size.

That is very narrow as a Jeep is 60" You would not be able to fit it as even the Ford Explorer, which is 58.5", cannot be used without illegal wheel spacers.

Hi Gojeep,
I ran the tape over my XJ and yes it would be a lot of stuffing around, but if you needed a stronger housing then I think it looks stronger than other Dana centre sections I have seen. I will try and get a photo of it to show you what I mean.
It has more casting material from the centre to the were the axel tubes are welded in but at the end of the day they may mean more parts for us as the years go on.

He's measuring from backing plate to backing plate, the jeep is 60inches from the outer axle wheel mount flange is it not? the mazda diff could be quite close if he measured it in the right place, don't see it being easy or cheap getting around the six stud wheel pattern though.
