Default cash for clunkers

Hi all jeep owners,I have been on you tube and had a look at the cash for clunkers and all I can say its bloody sad to see good jeeps and other cars destroyed so they can't be used any more.
They have to blow the engines up and i mean in the workshop or out the back in the new car holding yards and kill them.
The goverment should be spending money on alternative fuels which we have a heap of and recycling the cars we have for people who can't afford a new car.
An engine is an engine and in 08 the jeep wrangler was number one car for the enviroment. They take the cost of building it (Money and pollution) life span and the cost of recycling this vehical and it won hands down.
These days its all about diesel and I like them BUT they have to have partical filters, cat converters, organic urea injection, ultra low sulfa fuel and in deisel fuel this means taking away the thing that lubes the injector pump so they add additives to the fuel to keep them from siezing up under the huge pressures they run to the common rail. They take more engine oil at services and that is badly contaminated with carbon to so why make a bloody carbon making engine more popular?
Due to this, the new diesels can't run on veg oil so you have to buy the right fuel. Partical filters need to be cleaned out or replaced (cost to owner) and this is adding to the land fill and butting the cabon back in the ground. All it does is catch it so we dont see it come out of the exhaust when you are behind it.
The other way is to burn it out and it does this by going from 8 or so liters to the 100 to 22 to 25 liters (richens up the mixture) and after burns it and beleive me it takes a lot of heat to burn carbon.
A good spark ignition engine running on LPG,CNG,ETHANOL,METHAN,HYDROGEN is a better way to go

the cars getting destroyed are being recycled for metals instead of clearing land and digging up more from the ground.

But, if the car is still servicable then they should keep it going for the next person.
WHY a new vehicle, it keeps more jobs for people if we keep vehicles that need repair. Building more cars just keeps making more and more rubbish for us to recycle.
WE don't need tv's,reversing cameras,ESP and more shit to make the bloody car heavier we need poeple to learn to drive not the CAR.
We wont better ecomony but the cars get heavier. Take a new VE commodore and a VS and the difference is huge.
Look at the Subaru Forester Same engine for a long time 2.5 liter boxer but the cars just get heavier and the engine works harder to bull it along.
I like change but it's getting out of hand with the extra crap they come with.

Default And the energy.....

Yeah, and the huge amounts of energy that goes into a newby vehicles manufacture. OMG!!
I must admit I have an '06 KJ but this will be one of the million mile VM motors when I finish with her....we traded a 1985 Corolla with 500K on the clock when we got this truck.
When we can get 'em we keep 'em, 'n tlc 'em. The other Mopar I have in the yard is 1963/4 Valiant veeery slooowly being restored & these are young compared to the tractor.
Cheers

Default recycled jeeps

I am currently in the US and the Cash for Clunkers is all about helping the US auto industry. The number one traded vehicle in the C4C is the Ford Explorer. The Jeep Cherokee is 3rd. They have changed the policy about crushing these cars. The engines will be scraped and the rest of the cars will go to the Salvage yards. It's all about getting gas guzzlers off the road into more fuel efficient vehicles. Cars over here are dirt cheap anyway. A 2000 XJ is worth about 2000 US$. A 2006 F150 4X4 is US$19000 in the yard. Hummer H3 the same. I have spent a month over here and it's been a great experience. Every car nut should come here and be in Heaven.

A 1963 Valiant now theres a car that wont stop in a hurry.
Light, slant six engine, one of the best engines on this Planet.
I say they are built to be rebuilt.I to am a Valiant man I have good respect for the VC down Valiants as they hold themselves together well and being over 45 years old they show there strength well.
Its still good to see a good number of them around.
