TJ 5 speed manual/231TC/Terra-Low conversion.

TJ's have an anti stall function, geared low enough I still prefer the control of a manual.

A terra-low is on par price wise with diff ratios, but gives you the best of both worlds.

Good ratios for on road, and awsome reduction off road.

Can't push start an auto, can't hill start an auto, can't (effectively) use the engine to assist with steep decents.

Your testicals will get smaller driving an auto.
(not really, I just made that up)

I get the steep decent part, but I find it easier to just turn the key when i want to start my JK and also auto's don't stall on hills :)

neither does a manual with an 85:1 crawl ratio ;)

technical hill climbs would be more relaxing in a stock auto than a manual...

I guess it depends on how you like to drive.
Do you like to be involved in it (manual)
Do you like it to be taking it easy (auto)

I got a manual because thats just what I've always driven - and I found that the manual was more responsive than the auto when i took the JK for a test drive. I didn't really take the offroading part into account because hadn't really done it as a recreation activity before i got the JK.

Now that I have learned more about the "sport" of it all, and the differences that the transmission can make, I must admit there have been times when I think "maybe I should have got the auto?". But then I think about the parts of 4wding that I really like and how the manual made those times so much more engaging :)

Go with whichever one you want, I dont think you will regret either. Each has their pro's and cons - choose the one that suits the kind of driving you like to do.

Well that and you need to consider that a real Jeep is Manual, 2 door and a soft top.

Waynes right though, pretty sure there is scientific evidence to suggest your testicals will indeed shrink if you drive an auto :D

but seriously festa... you would have to drive a JK/TJ manual to understand, sure they stall sometimes, but the uphill climb, I feel WWWWAAAAYYYY more in control than if I'm in an auto.

my 2 cents worth... ok maybe 4 cents.

Yes Simsy, I'm allways right. Except for those times when I'm wrong.
