Why they can't use their powers for good I don't know. Like offering a 'remote drive you home from the pub service'.

I don't think it effects us here in Australia because we have no apps but it is scary.

Yes and no. They had to access the vehicle first to upload "malicious software" first. Its not like they just targeted one that drove past them.

So if you give your new jeep to some hackers to do what they want to, then yes, maybe they will remote control it at some point in future. Personally im not worried yet

It only affects US models according to the article I read. I still wouldn't be using my car as a hotspot if one could get to the main car computer via the wifi!!

I have said this a thousand times that whenever new technology comes out the first thing the government and the enforcement agencies will think of is HOW TO USE IT AGAINST US. I could just imagine the cops taking control of your car and stopping you to book you for whatever. Tin foil on

Has anyone local put in their VIN yet to see if an update is available just to confirm its strictly a U.S. Problem?

Unhacking the hacked Jeep.

I don't know stuff all about the KL Uconnect but I assume in OZ we probably don't have the cellular SIM option and hence the remote hack isn't possible?
