Thanks Brit30-06 The dealer here is Jeep, Mazda and a couple of others. The service manager said at least they can bounce it around the brains trust at head office and maybe get a fresh idea. It is certainly frustrating!

I have experienced this when installing piggy back performance chip. Times of installing/removal make the fuel rail pressure sensor's plug turn loose hence the thunder bolt light flashing. Some cable tie or whatever that can tighten up the connection will solve the problem.

thanks glpro160 Jeep found the sensor was a bit wonky on statup but showed was working well soon after. They found the turbo intake hose has a slight leak so will replace that first. They cleared all codes. Next morning the light was back as usual until stop and restarted - off all day after. Hopefully the leaking gose will help.

Hopefully last update on this issue. Finally found a great diesel mechanic who said it is either the the fuel rail sensor or exhaust diesel filter thingy. Undid a few bolts and the exhaust was spotless, after recent flush. Pulled the fuel rail sensor out and it was burnt black, not soot or carbon black from heat. Replaced it and the issue resolved. Drove from Albury to Qld and back and many k's since - all good. Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.
