Default Sports Exhaust

From the web site powerchip.com.au...have to try one soon..

Quote:

JEEP - Wrangler 4.0

In standard form, the Jeep Wrangler 4.0 produces 130 kW, however the addition of a Powerchip Gold will increase the power to 144 kW. In addition to the extra power, the torque is also increased. The Wrangler 4.0 produces 290 Nm standard, and this is increased to 319 Nm This means more pulling power especially up hills.

Your car uses a Surface Mount Chip. Fitting takes about 1.5 hours and must be perfomed by a specialist. We have a specialised fitter in every state.

I think you can probably spend your money a lot more wisely with products other than a powerchip.

No one ever really seems to be happy with all of the different chips out there.

Do lots of research on the chips and I would do all of the actual mods to the engine/exhaust/air intake I could before going with a chip.

loads of jeep 4.0 perfomance info

Default Sports Exhaust

Just got back from 2 weeks in the big smoke..

We just replaced the exhaust with extractors (HPC coated), 2.5" SS pipe, flow through muffler (14" c/o Lukey Ultraflo), and a high flow resonator. The difference was HUGE.

Noise wise might be a bit loud around town, but dont hear anything on the highway. Recon easy 20% perfomance increase, and the economy was much improved.

Also added a Unichip and had it dynotuned. Got about 10% extra low down grunt (under 2500 rpm)... not bad, but would be hard to justify the money unless you really wanted that 10%..about 1200 bucks. Importantly though there is also economy gains there as they tend to lean the mixture.

Between the two improvements..recon a conservative 25% gain in power and economy. No bad. Of the two, the exhaust was the best value for money though!

Keep in mind it will be different for different vehicles... our original exhaust was VERY restrictive, though the mixture wasnt far off to start with, so some people might not get as much gain with the exhaust, but better with the chip. As far as chips go though, its only worth getting those that can be individually programed on your 4WD while its on the dyno, and the mixtures are being measured at the exhaust.

I replaced my muffler with one that flows a bit better and went with a 2.25 inch system on the reccomendation of the exhaust place (I think Mick suggested it as well). Felt like more power the first time I drove it out but sort of used to it now so cant tell anymore. Sounded great initially and still sounds good on the trail but sometimes it can be too loud around town and gives you the shits - the problem with softtops I suppose.
