Default ZJ to LPG Dual Fuel

I'm sure this comes up every time petrol spikes in price and hasn't it spiked recently!

Has anyone converted a ZJ Grand Cherokee to LPG, in a dual fuel configuration. I'd be probably most interested in either a vapour or liquid injection setup, coming from a Falcon background I know just how good they are these days.

Do these engines take to LPG well, or am I getting myself into trouble I don't want by going down this road?

In any case, I'm not just motivated by saving cost in considering a conversion. I'm also attracted to the idea of having a de facto long range tank setup, although somewhat mitigated by the lack of availability of LPG in far regional areas where I will do some touring to. I'm sure if I do it I'm looking at spending $3 to $6,000, that's not a bother to me given my truck is still fairly low mileage and I can probably get another 10 years out of it if I look after it.

I'm sure I'm stretching possibilities even asking, but mine is a Limited, has anyone installed LPG and wired it up to the computer so that the trip computer still works? That would be a bonus but I' not going to abandon the idea just because it won't.

Was just quoted about $3600 for a vapour injected LPG system by "The Gas Man" at Seven Hills.

Has anyone had dealings with them, are they decent? The price doesn't sound bad for vapour injection.

I'll give it some thought, but it seems fairly tempting to be honest.

If anyone's interested in some follow up, I finally got around to getting a proper quote. Was quoted $3850 for vapour injection with a 97 litre usable tank mounted sideways in the cargo area. Based on some back of the envelope calculations we reckon it should be paid for in 4 or so years, maybe sooner, maybe a touch longer. As I said last year she's not even at 130,000 km so still a lot of life left in her yet.

I'd still be curious to hear from anyone els who has their Grand on gas, especially if it's running a newer injected LPG system.
