I have the gobi rack and have been accross the Simpson desert with well over 100kg no problem. I think the weight has to do with the strength of the plastic rails.

Had a look at the UNeek rack fitted..Not that impressed with the Laser cutting shape of the section that sits on the plastic inserts along the "pinch weld" aka top of the door sills..They could have done better with the shaping..The one I saw only touched in a few places rather than sitting firmly and squarely on the plastic..My worry is with movement these are the points of max ware and with a decent load then how long before rub through??..Mate fitted Frontrunner rails for his last trip up the Cape & OTT...Certainly reduced flex significantly but with his pod and boat on top ended up with some damage due to flex which I think may pop out. The OEs are crap so unless UNeek do a better job than what I saw then the search goes on...I want my boat loader and tinnie on to..I'm looking at modding my Frontrunner rails to spread the load to the plastic strip similar to UNeeks but to my design and a better fit.

Those roof rack that also have the support sitting on the pinch welds, are they also secured or just resting?

If so, then these still pose a risk with upper movements on corrugated and would definately rip the mount points in any case.

The only ones i can think of that are strong would be roof bars that clamps down like the old ear on the corners door gems.

Gobi & UNeek rest on the plastic/rubber strip but Gobi do a better job of it in my opinion. This is how Gobi does it:

Wow that's an awesome roof rack, surely you'd never remove it after it's installed though.

Yep ..once on then it stays...Worth noting that Gobi, Frontrunner and UNeek use the 2 mounting nutserts at either end that the OE rails don't use which are hidden by the OE plastic end pieces...Caution: when screwing into these make sure there is ABSOLUTELY no dirt in the threads..The bolts will bind and the nutserts will spin...big trouble with much difficulty removing them as my mate found out.
