Default Overland 3.6 Towing Capacity

Hi all,

Am I not understanding .... or is the Overland 3.6 not suitable for towing?

http://www.jeep.com.au/compare-models-grand-cherokee

See the Technical Specs data from Jeep Australia .... Under Towing there is no value for the Overland 3.6 just a dash!!!

Please give me comfort that the 3.6 Overland is capable of towing

Thanks

Rob

Yep ... ordered a Petrol on Friday, changed next day to a diesel .... and on the Monday changed back to the 3.6.

I just needed something a bit more off road capable than my Outback ... no big caravan ... and no rock crawling or Canning Stock route for me.

The diesel worked out some $10,000 extra over 5 years ... and importantly the extra cost also reduced my superannuation earnings by $800 pa (another 3-4K over 5 years).

I will be doing many long country trips .. so a fuel costs of $25 per 1,000 kms is economical in my situation. So if it costs an extra $150 every time I do a return visit Halifax (FNQ) that is something I can live with.

I have great regard for the CRD and QDII .... but I wouldn't be able to use its capacity in my situation

Regards

Rob

I've got a 3.6l and I tow a Jayco Hawk Outback (about 2t loaded) all over the place including the beach and it does pretty well, in fact I'm yet to bog it on the beach though I have driven past a few other big names - I'm not saying the Jeep is the best off-roader or that I'm a good driver, just saying that it does what it says on the box.
Cheers,
Jason.

Just sorting through some photos and thought you might like to see this, my 3.6l sitting outside the pub on Noosa North Shore after spending a week up the beach. I'm just starting to think about a replacement and will probably go with a diesel just for the extra towing grunt not that I ever feel like I don't have enough power but can you ever really have too much grunt?

I posted the same pic in the QL thread just to show how flat it sits.
