Default WK2 around Australia

Owning a 12 wrangler JKU for 2 years, it's time to upgrade/change to a more comfortable and (heavier towing facility)4wd,
Among options are 200 cruiser, Prado, patrol grand. On paper the grand presents good value. My question is would you use a wk2 to travel to remote areas?
I'm eyeing a 14 Laredo diesel to start but is it best to get the upgraded airbag lift option or get stock suspension and go to someone like Stu to get a 2" lift? I'm hoping to add arb bar with winch, aux fuel tank and roof rack plus underbody protection, rails, towing option and perhaps aux battery if I can fit easily
Appreciate your help as I need reliability and would like comfort..
Thanks

Are you looking at petrol or diesel?

Fair enough, I would go diesel too. Otherwise I was going to suggest the new patrol. Very cheap at moment. I would argue the prado is older and much simpler and more reliable/easier to get parts but I believe it is much more expensive. The engine is ok. Not as good as a jk crd though.

Chris. Looking at 13 plus models, 200 is about 81k, Prado 55k, grand 52k, Toyota 76 67k, patrol 55k. The Prado has only 2500k towing while others have 3500kg. If they had a jk with a strong 3l diesel with the proposed long travel independent suspension, I'd jump at it, but not for a few years it seems

I'm just waiting on others experiences with the grand for touring long distances...

I have a my14 Laredo diesel with Q/L, recently completed a trip from Brisbane/Longreach/Charleville/Brisbane towing a 2.5 ton van. The car was extremely comfortable with the air suspension and very economical (Avg 13 lt/100km for the whole trip). Would do it again and longer trips in a heart beat, very little driver fatigue. the only thing that nags the back of my brain is service back up when away from the coastal fringe but no need so far.
good luck and great travels

Mickey, do you really need the Q/L? And what other accessories have you?
