Shifter is optional really. You can keep using yours or order a replacement top place with the correct markings for about $40. It will be a bit tricky to replace it though. I opted to find a whole selec trac shifter assembly and got it delivered for about $130.

So for the front driveshaft swap all we need is the uni shaft and both yokes from an XJ or ZJ? 6 or 8. Am I on the right track here?
I have read about this a little too much and confused the shit outta myself
Correct, both yokes and the driveshaft. I don't know about the front diff yoke from an XJ with the Dana 30 HP. Most likely they have the same yoke as the Dana 30 LP. I imagine the NP231 and NP242 should have the same front output yoke.

Well, if its not one thing, its another with my Overland at the moment. Power windows, locks etc.. went buggy. Bit of research led me to pulling the boot back between the front drivers door and foot panel. Revealed a broken power wire.. Tomorrow i will get in there and fix it. Also, i replaced the TPS and Speed Sensor in the hope the P0740 code would not come back, but it has.. so now it is a $400 transmission solenoid kit with filters and gaskets.

Check out my Ride(s)
Talking

In the last month I've done - new drilled & slotted front rotors, exchanged transfer case, new rear brake pads, nudge bar plus 22" light bar, 2m x 2.5m awning, electric trailer brakes plus Anderson plug, auto trans service & replaced tyres with 245/75/16's . Still to do before we continue our Big Lap towing our van - interior fan resistor & re-gas aircon.
Before that I replaced whole front axle/diff & radiator
Oh I forgot still have to get new struts for rear window & door & maybe get some key fobs & another key.
