Check your brake caliper bolts boys !!

As per the title.. I lost one today coming to work.. NOT FUN !!

Thanks to the boys at Double Black Offroad for hooking me up with a replacement.. Local Stealer didn't have any..

N.B. Double Black did not do any work on the Jeep and are not responsible for the bolt coming loose ...

Apparently it is reasonably common.. so pull 'em out, loctite and re-torque the bolts..

What torque setting did you use?

I didn't as I had to repair it at work.. but I believe the torque is 163Nm

I run a spanner over mine each time I do a tyre rotation. And that's after knowing that I was the last one to have the calipers off.

Thankfully its become a bit less common as the word gets out..... early on it was a chronic DIY mistake and even with stealers. That much torque is a bit unusual for most other makes.

I still carry a spare bolt, but threadlocker and a big breaker bar are my friend.

The correct torque for these bolts is 163 N·m (120 ft.lbs). Thats medium to bright red when hanging on the end of a 12" breaker bar for those that don't have a torque wrench

Whilst most people undo he large caliper adapter mounting bolts when changing pads, the manual suggests removing the slide pin bolts which are much smaller and tightened to 31 N·m (23 ft. lbs.).

Either way will get teh job done.
