Thumbs up crd oil contamination fix

hi there

Ill start a discussion about the turbo diesel and there poor design.

After 45000ks and most of it towing a trailer (Tvan of course) engine
performance has dropped markedly, upon inspection the intercooler is full of blow by oil 2003 model picks up at top of engine and connects to the
air inlet pre turbo .

So all the crankcase fumes and oil contaminants are fed to the turbo charger
thru the intercooler and into the engine .
Problem is hot gases when cooled condense inside the intercooler slowly blocking it up .

VW have had the same problem with there turbo diesels they now fit the
following as oem Mann and Hummel Provent 200 http://www.mann-hummel.com/mhuk/uplo...BGDHjDBaVQ.pdf

They can also supply oem oil and air filters

oil part no w 719-14 $16.11 plus gst

air part no :c 2975 $ 25.14 plus gst

That explains a lot. I am at 42000+km. I have blown the high pressure pipe off the turbo a couple of times (loose clamp) and I have noticed the oil in the pipe. In fact when it starts leaking gas before it blows off it spits oil out as well so the engine is all greasy around the outlet.

I would be interested in the outcome and fitting.

Have you had any feedback on how to clean the oil out of the intercooler? Any warranty issues with Jeep?

Cool crd oil

Provent is due next month , will be approaching dealer re engine performance
fuel economy and the worst flatspot, engine just about chokes on full throttle at low speed then auto thinks for a while down shifts to 1st gear and takes off interesting when turning slow out of a corner into peak hour traffic!!!!
It should be a warranty issue as at 45000klms engine should not be dropping
power and behaving this way, if dealer says no I will aproach head office in
Sydney/Melbourne if Vw now fit these under warranty why dont Jeep?

I will be interested to see what happens when you approach Jeep about it. The MD refuses to talk to the public. When I had a BIG problem I ended up with the regional manager and he wasn't very cooperative. It took a lot to make him understand my situation. At least you have the VW example to help.

I asked Cooma Diesel about the ProVent today and they had no idea. They told me to go make my own.
