Hi Rickman,
Mine dropped a little after the first few tanks but the speed makes the biggest difference. The most economical is about 80kmh on the open road. When stock my JKU CRD 5sp auto could get into the nines on a long run at 80 but increased towards 11 @110km/h. The front AEV bar and winch added a little, maybe 0.3l per 100. The 3inch lift added ~ another 0.5. Most of my trips are between 11.5 and 12 on stock tyres.

Murchison do the computer remapping for your model. http://www.murchisonproducts.com.au/...formance-flash. It's next on my list 😆

Quite surprised by these fuel usage numbers. Not much better than my lifted 2 door 3.8L. Given the additional servicing costs of the diesel it'd be hard to argue the value. The extra power and torque would be nice though.

outbreakmonkey I think ya need to look more closely at what your 3.8 really uses ?? 15-17L ??

I had a CRD JK for over 4 years and 200,000km were documented, how does 10.8L/100km over 4 years compare to 15L/100km over a similar period ?

and consider 98 is around 15-20c more exp at the moment, yeah CRD saved well over 15-20K, and as for service cost, yeah nah the CRD pretty much needs an oil change ever 10k.

CRD is a win but buy in is higher, Im only week 3 of JK V6 4dr ownership and after averaging 13.3L with mixed driving its settled between 10.8L and 12.2L, I live in kensington so mixed innercity and lots freeway during the day. Cant believe trip down the sth coast, freeway speed, heaps of hills, took it to a fishing spot, turned around and came back, 410km 2 day trip and average is 11.9. Not bad but this was on 98, paid average of 150c/l before the weekend price ris

You need to take into consideration 1st gen and 2nd gen CRD in the JK.

The 2nd gen has more power and better fuel efficiency than the 1st gen.

Say what !! Its exactly the same motor and specs, I'll drove my crd like i stole and it gave an ave of 10.8L over its life, i also had it flashed so that i got the full 460nm with the ultra short 07 manual box

in all honest i doubt you ll seen your best fuel economy till youve done atleast 10,000km

Not sure what the latest is with intercooler pipes but i suspect going solid alloy helped with my low fuel economy, no flex meant early spool, and ultimately fewer revs needed to get up to speed.

The engines are very similar but slightly different.

Sounds like it's one of the more thirsty diesels for it's capacity. Aerodynamics of a brick doesn't help. Gotta love the torque though. Just put 32 Muddies on it so I would expect fuel usage to go up. Doing 80kph on Melbourne freeways IMO is like walking into a lions cage. The other day I was on the Deer Park Bypass in peak hours moving with the traffic which was slowing down due to traffic congestion ahead. Both lanes were busy, but then an idiot in a Audi had to get into the left lane & moved into the gap between me & the car ahead ,then braked hard as the traffic came to a stop. An Audi would definitely pull up in time, but the Wrangler was struggling to pull up which made me have to swerve onto the left emergency lane to avoid rear ending the Audi. I don't know what it is about Melbourne drivers. He could clearly see that the traffic had stopped up ahead, but for some reason they just don't like slowing down. They are aggressive & if someone is going slow, even in the left lane, they will do the craziest things to get past. I was instructing a learner driver a week or so ago, & I couldn't believe how much grief she was getting from other drivers. There is no patience anymore, which will just lead to more accidents.
