Default Battery changing

Just looking ahead to the time when I will need to change my battery - is it necessary to use a ' memory saver ' power source?
What happens if you don't?

Not sure what happens if you disconnect the battery & take the power off - would probably have to reset radio stations, seat memory etc. When I changed the battery in my 2015 diesel I hooked another battery onto the engine bay battery terminals to keep everything powered up then disconnected the main battery & insulated the terminals (still live) prior to installing the replacement.

Cheers

As far as I know just pull the old one and stick in the new one, of course some memory stuff will drop off but nothing else otherwise when you disconnect the battery to work on things or try to reset codes etc it would cause mayhem.....

Just the radio resets, nothing else. My seats and everything were still stored when I disconnected mine a few times.
Mine was weird, came up with a code needed screen once, when I started the car it was all good.

Pretty sure somewhere in the work shop manual it talks about using a cigarette lighter plug inserted into one of the 12v power outlets ( the one which is not controlled by key on acc ) and is hot all the time, and have it hooked up to an auxillary 12volt power source.
