Tech on how oil moves through air basically dictates these cans trap far less than what flows through, especially in turbo applications. Basically the only thing proven to scrub the air properly is the Provent with its special filter.
These cans are better than nothing but not ideal and certainly not worth any more money than the cheap eBay ones.
While doing something else on the car today around the throttle body and air filter area, I thought to remove the throttle body and see how everything looks and yes, there was only a little bit of gunk but nowhere near enough compared to when I didn't have the catch can installed. The oil level in the catch can is only slightly higher than it was on the above picture. Cleaned it and put it all back. Happy the catch can is doing it's job .

Cleaned/blew out the air filter too while I was at it. Didn't look too bad either, considering the amount of offroad done in the last year .

This design will work but it really needs to be packed with some stainless pot scrubbers to provide the medium for the oil mist to coelesce on and settle to the bottom.

Thanks Glend, I'll do that when I take the catch can off to empty it. Should catch much more than it already does, not that I'm not happy with it's performance so far.
