In answer to your previous questions, radiator type,
fan mods,
aircon core still in place,
oil cooler variations .... etc ....

I run a 12 " electric fan in place of the standard fan
A/C core is standard place
Same oil cooler. I run a temp sensor on the AT cooler line
Bonnet has 2 x 8" holes in the bonnet scoop.

Also, I removed the radiator to install this and found lots of bird feathers blocking the radiator that I couldn't see before.
Standard radiator or aftermarket radiator???
I wonder how this would go without a thermostat?????

Good work...

Standard Radiator.

I have just removed the thermostat as I think it was confusing the controller. Also made it hard to bleed the system when the thermostat is closed. Also I noticed that when the fan LED was on during the over run, the fan wasn't on. After much testing I found the output to the fan relay was an earth, not a positive signal. Now the fan works, although the temp never went high enough to warrant the fan to come on.

I drove 200 kms yesterday and the fuel consumpion dropped 2 lt/100 kms. Surely it's not just down to removing the water pump. It also revs quicker and seems quieter as well. I'm happy.....

2 things I can think of that cause the extra fuel!
1: if it revs quicker it might be using a litte extra that way.
2: if it keeps it to cool then it might (even if it's only for a few seconds) it might possibly be in warm up mode.

Getting back to the thermostat and where you have possitioned the temp guage for the new pump!
As mentioned before, it might be wise to take the temperature closer to the heads for obviouse reasons.
I believe the extra flow provided from removing the thermostat is good and bad, cools it down quicker, this can also do damage as motors are designed to run at a constant temp not a fluctuating temp causing warping and other head aches,,,
I would try and find a lower temp thermostat so that it still has the proper warm up mode and possibly a more constant flow. Maybe even drill a larger hole in the thermostat as per gojeep's site..
I am not in anyway saying your mod is a bad one by any means,
but the amount of research I have done lately due to Cherokee overheating problems, I believe more can be done to help the motor and the rest of the system stay at a closer constant temp.
Electric water pumps are a good thing.
There only bad side is, when they stop they stop!!

I could be wrong but my impression was that his consumption has dropped meaning using less fuel...
I also could be wrong on how these EWP's are configured but I thought that they vary the flow accoring to the engine temp, therefore negating the need for a thermostat....

To me it all sounds good, I would love to know what the realistic expected usable life is because being able to get full water flow at idle or just above idle which is often the case offroad plus lower fuel usage makes for serious consideration.....
